Good Transmission shop? Empty Good Transmission shop?

Post  Kurai Wed May 12, 2010 9:31 pm

Hey anyone know a really good transmission shop that rebuilds transmissions? Im looking to rebuild/upgrade my Toyota R154. I have/getting all the Marlin Crawler upgrades that they make for the R154 and use in their race R154s.

Anyone know of any good reliable places? Cool

Shouldn't be a problem. I can't say anything about getrag but Toyota manual transmissions aren't bad. I've got my C56 open right now swapping the engine side for an e engine pattern from the 4age it came on.

Hmmm if its not that hard then maybe ill just rebuild it myself...there was nothing wrong with it from what i understand and i am just gonna upgrade a few things here and there. Cool shift fork, thrust washer, a few bushings nothing too crazy.

Any special tools i would need?

Search the web a little bit and you may find a DIY like I did. On the Tercel board there is a DIY on exactly what I just did with mine and another that shows step by step how to rebuild the C5* series. Trying hard to find an lsd while this trans is opened.

ok did some digging and found a couple DIY as well as the complete pdf for breakdown and rebuild of the R154 and W58 but looks like I will need a press and puller which I do not have and some ppl recommend just taking it to a shop unless I have someone there that has been in there before so we will see, nothing wrong with the one I have from what I know. but I will be doing some upgrades to it upgrading some common things that break alot on them. Cool

So may still need to know a good shop unless I can find someone willing to break it down with me.
