Upgrades, and problems
Ok, Having a slight problem with Jazzy. She was working fine or seemed to be doing fine since the intake Kurai and I put on. All of a sudden she is having battery probs... She was doing fine up until I left. Mike never mentioned anything to me so i am unsure if it is a problem with her, or the modification we made.

Upgrades.. Ha ha..
Ok as of right now the upgrades I am trying to do .. Once i figure out what is causing the battery problem) is more performance.
1.Axle Back Exhaust.
2.Next Stage power Pro Timing Controller. (approx. 8+ wheel horse power)
3.Turbo kit (50% horse power increase..245 WHP on the DYNO)
4. Piggy Back ECU (approx. 6+Ft of torque & better fuel)
5.Transmission Cooler
6.Struts
7. Progress Anti Sway Bar
8.4 Piston Big Brake Kit - Performance
9. Tie Bar
10 ..cant forget the coil overs..

Re: Upgrades, and problems
I doubt the intake had anything to do with it.. I told my dad the same thing. I am hoping he looks into it for me. Either way am hoping to send the parts to my dad. Figured i can get the parts either held there until return or he may be able and willing to install some of them for me.. Not sure.

You are very right, just want to be able to show something. Maybe i will just let him check out the ECU for me. I see the pic of the Vette. What have you done to her now?!

Re: Upgrades, and problems
Hmmm well 1st what are the battery symptoms what is she doing?
Far as the parts go from your list you can save alot of cash....1st cut the exhaust off there well at least the axle back, cut the power adder chip too.....
You wont need the chip since you will get a tune when you add the turbo so id save the cash and get a regular piggy-back ECU also you might as well go with a full custom exhaust since GA has no emissions law really no point in going from a stock size to stock cat then to a performance cat-back, plus will cost you less and is almost easier to have a full custom exhaust done when adding a new kit
What you doing to the exterior anything?
Oh and if you get full coilovers you wont need struts unless u mean strut tower braces....

Re: Upgrades, and problems
Well, the exhaust alone will save about $450, the struts would save anouthe $3-400. The Turbo alone is $4,400 + taxes..
As for the battery, he said she keeps dieing.. Sounded like a dead cell at first, but i told him to unplug everything from the concole. Dont know what else is going on. Apparently somehting that started happening as soon as i left. Don't know what to tell him. I even thought of the interior lights. My Dad is a mechanic so most of this is pretty much the first thing he would look at. IM gonna have to ask Mike if he noticed anything. This only slightly postpones the mods not necessarily the buying of them.

Re: Upgrades, and problems
Yes I have plans for the exterior but im not posting everything.. Some stuff has to be shh.. but you have a good idea already of what will be happening. I am debating between Carbon Fiber pieces though. Found a few body kits, but im finding it difficult to go with a body kit that is "bolt on" seems rather cheap and may be more problem than what i am looking for. eh.. Who knows.
The turbo kit doesnt really give me any more information other than it will add a 50% increase in Horsepower.. so i think all in all it would be a good thing. I still want to get that timing controller. Looking for steel braided breaklines, but as they are only found for the 08 De and ES model im not entirely sure where to look. so its just been surfing the web for ideas and prices.. Im wondering if i can just get some stuff custom made.

Re: Upgrades, and problems
I'm an auto-electrical tech at a local shop, maybe I can help with the battery issues. What kind of vehicle is Jazzy? How long does it sit between starts? What kind of battery are you using?

Jazzy is a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. She didn't have a problem before I left her with Dad. She is my Daily Driver so she rarely sat for longer than 15 hours. As of now I am unsure how long she is sitting before driven. I do know for the most part my dad works a lot, and will use it from time to time when going somewhere. He also drives my old mustang so I am not entirely sure how often he drives Jazzy. I will have to check on that battery but it is the same battery I bought her with. She only had 66 miles when purchased. Also, had just been through the first phase of tune up.
Nothing has been done to her electronically. The only thing done so far has been to put in an intake that was designed for the 2008 ES Lancer.
Thanks

If you get a kit go for Urethane first....and realize its gonna cost more to install it then to actually buy it so factor in that as well.

Re: Upgrades, and problems
Not sure how old your dad is but if by chance he left a door not fully shut or any other reason a light could have been left on over night it would completely drain the battery and weaken it. Factory acid batteries are basically designed to last long enough to sell the car and clear warranty. Notice sometime what amperage factory batteries are rated at versus the replacements sold.
Anyway after a full drain often they won't hold a charge. Before we decide what to do let's work with how long until you come home. If you're going to be gone for over 6 months more then get dad to replace the battery with a good aftermarket like interstate or diehard.(diehard is built by interstate btw) If you'll be home inside of 6 months then just get dad to store the car and not start it anymore. My timeline is based on a few reasons. 6 months is about as long as you'd want the fuel sitting plus brake parts or any other rubber parts for that matter. However starting the car on a poor battery will add stress to the starter then the alternator when it tries to recharge that battery. Then there's one more factor. Many cars today have codes that must be entered when a battery is disconnected to prevent radio/car theft.
Consider those options but hope it's far simpler, like maybe mom turned on a vanity mirror light and it's still on.

Re: Upgrades, and problems
It has got to be the buffer...well that was what was wrong with 076's gun any way but i am giving a 1+ on the door not allthe way closed or the mirror light glove box left open. something what can be done is leave the key off. if you pull the positive terminal off the battery you can put a testlight in between the terminal and the battery and if it lights up real bright you know you have something draining it (make sure the door is closed the dome light will light up the test light.) and then from there go to the fuse box and pull a fuse and observe the light. if the light doesnt dim or go out put it back in. then the next fuse etc untill the light goes out or dims and then you will have found what circuit the drain is in. but if it so happens that the battery is drained all the way then it has to stay at full charge for a while to maintain its own charge or it will go flat again.....good luck

Re: Upgrades, and problems
I was going to suggest doing that however being the model car it is there are so many modules that pull a little each off the battery that it looks like a drain even to techs that deal with it everyday.

Just heard rumor that the guy that deals with Turbos at carter's is gone. Anyone know where else i should go. Kurai and I were Talking and I want to try another route. Still sticking with Turbo. looking to almost double the HP. say no more than about 250HP.
