Kurai suggested I make a thred about my Starlet build so here goes...

The body won't be riced out or anything to grab attention. A simple paint job and large rubber stuffed inside the stock quarter panels. A plate on the rear atached to the cage that will make adding the chute easy and quick at the track. This same plate will double as a trailer hitch mount.

Under the hood you'll find a 91MR2 block head and crank. A stainless ebay manifold flipped upside down will support the precision 6262bb turbo with 3" pipe leaving the bay from there. An external wastegate with a seperate much smaller pipe will exit the bay pointed at the ground but angled back a touch to prevent an accidental oil slick should anything go wrong. A large fmic will cool do prelim cooling of the 30+psi air before routing into a home made intake manifold through a quite large throttle body. Stainless oversized and undercut valves will be fitted into the polished ports and the tvis will not be joining the party. A large and high lift set of HKS bump sticks will be pushing the gen3 shimless buckets with timing set via JUN adjustable gears. CP slugs on carrillo rods will turn the micro-polished crank up to the new 9000rpm redline while very large injectors supply enough fuel to run a supercharged V8. Fire will be supplied through a coil pack as we are going DIS. All of this will be directed back through the W58 Supra 5speed to the 9" ford axle.

    Wink

I have almost all the engine parts, the transmission including bell to fit s engine, the rearend and about half of the electronics. I've got the front suspension parts I thought I'd be using but as we all know plans change.
Doing much research on other cars with similar builds/goals I've come to realize I most likely will need a full caged car to operate safely. Trying to be optomistic I'm looking at that in this manner, chrome moly frame and aluminum flooring will end up being almost as light as the original car. The huge supra transmission has an all aluminum case and bell while the original was cast iron. Sure the 3s and turbo are heavier than the little 4k was but weight will be moved around to get a proper 60/40 balance if not better.
I'm looking for a true 8 second street car. The original weight of the car was 1758lbs. After the build with driver I'm looking for 2100lbs or less. The engine is being built by most of the specs that the GTP 3s-gte powered Supras used which made over 800hp. I'm not going for the max hp numbers the engine is capable of either as I don't want a dyno queen. The turbo should spool at 2500rpm and be online before 3500. The happy area for the cams is from 4500-9000rpm. Considering the ultra light weight lag shouldn't be an issue with a 2 liter engine. But when the tach passes 5........

I'm thinking AEM currently but that may change before the time comes. It won't be piggybacked for sure. I've got to add a sensor or so to make it operate at peak. Most of the normal 3sgte stuff will be done away with, no AFM and very little on the intake.
